“The Indicators” (2023)

Synopsis: Two high school girls trek into the rainforest in hopes of protecting what’s left of the biodiversity in their jungle-bordering community. Torti is a small town in Eastern Panama, a region known for its rich biodiversity. This biodiversity, however, is put at risk by high rates of deforestation for timber extraction and monoculture. By studying the local butterfly populations, the teenagers found the butterflies could be used as bioindicators of forest health. After submitting their findings to a 13-country wide science fair, all they can do is wait to hear what the scientific community thinks.

Awards: Best Short Documentary at the Santiago Wild Film Festival in partnership with National Geographic & Jackson Wild

“Peak Performance: Flying the Fire Boss” (2023)

Directed, Produced, Shot, and Edited by Kurt Sensenbrenner

“Peak Performance” videos explore high-risk, high-performing flight operations where pilots and crews push themselves and their aircraft to the edge of performance, doing so safely.

In this episode, join AOPA’s Air Safety Institute Senior Vice President Richard McSpadden in this first installment as he visits Dauntless Air at their annual training exercise in Cleburne, Texas, to explore their firefighting mission in the amazing Air Tractor Fire Boss aircraft. Ride along to see what it takes to safely scoop 800 gallons of water out of a lake in 15 seconds and then release the roughly 6,600-pound load to douse simulated fires.
